After the vocational training the women are able to work independently on basic clothing. In the tailoring unit – the production place of the NVA – they learn to work on different machines, to produce a wider range of designs and to make quality products.
The women are able to work as self-employed at home or at the NVA production place in Aluthgama. They can produce at flexible time according to their ability. After receive of the order they are provided with the cut fabric material for sewing. The finished items will be checked for quality and then paid by piece rate to ensure fair payment conditions. Therefore, it is a good additional income possibility for the part time.
In order to get enough orders and sale the products the NVA produces its own label “LankaLIKE”, which are sold at the production unit directly or at the new sales outlet “Uncommon Collection” in Aluthgama town. NVA also takes other production orders from companies to be able to ensure effective and sustainable income generation for the women. One of our main customers is Colombo3 from Germany.
